Skate for our Appeal
THERE’S just three days to go until The Argus teams up with the Royal Pavilion Ice Rink to raise hundreds of pounds for charity.
The company responsible for the ice rink in the grounds of Brighton’s Royal Pavilion is donating funds from the first skating session to the Argus Appeal.
The generous gesture come as the appeal celebrates its 60th anniversary.
Skaters will be able to get on the ice from 10am to 11am on Saturday and help the appeal at the same time.
Shella Parkin, managing director of Laine Ltd, the company behind the rink, said: “This is our Christmas present to The Argus Appeal, which is celebrating its 60th year of supporting local charities and won The Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service this year.
“We are delighted to be able to contribute to their work by giving all proceeds from the session to the appeal.”
Non-skaters are also welcome to go along and support the appeal on the day and soak up the festive atmosphere.
There is no charge for spectating from the rinkside bar and kitchen or on the 40-metre terrace next to the ice.
Argus editor Arron Hendy said: “This is a wonderful gesture to benefit our appeal.”
Tickets cost from £10 for those aged 12 and over, £7 for juniors (under 12) and the one hour skate times run from 10am to 9.15pm daily.
