Albion striker Glenn Murray with the junior shirts competition winners
PUPILS at St Joseph’s Catholic Primary School in Hollingdean received a special delivery.
Earlier this term American Express, official shirt sponsor of Brighton and Hove Albion Football Club, teamed up with The Argus to give readers the chance to win 11 Brighton and Hove Albion home shirts for a junior girls’ or boys’ team.
Parent governor, John Parfitt and wife Linda, whose great-grandson is a pupil at St Joseph’s, entered the prize draw and were delighted to have won.
As an extra festive treat, one of Albion’s star strikers, Glenn Murray, made a surprise appearance to give out the prize. the whole school gave Glenn a special rendition of We wish you a Merry Christmas.’
Gill Foan, deputy head, said: “We were thrilled when John and Linda told us they had won the Amex competition and were giving the Albion shirts to our school.
“The pupils were really excited to hear we were being awarded the prize.
“We have some big Seagulls fans at St Joseph’s, so having Glenn Murray visit our school has made all their Christmases come at once.”
